What is GelMoment Flake Off?
Flake off is a quick and easy brush on gel polish remover. It is designed to remove GelMoment gel polish but will remove most gel polish, traditional polish, wraps made from polish and lacquers. It is non-toxic, being 5 Free; no dibutyl phthalate, no toluene, no formaldehyde, no formaldehyde resin and no camphor. PLUS it is solvent free, gluten free, latex free, lead free, cruelty free, vegan friendly, and eco-friendly!
How do you use GelMoment Flake Off?
It goes on like a thick, cloudy gel with a brush over your polish. It will need to sit on your polish between 3 to 10 minutes. My personal sweet spot is about 7 minutes. As it starts to work, Flake Off will lift the polish off your nail, then you gently use a cuticle pusher to remove all the product from your nail.
What to expect.
Consistency: This is a thick solution that is temperature sensitive. If your bottle is below room temperature, it may look lumpy/grainy and cloudy. Allow product to come to room temperature for ideal consistency…which will still be a little clumpy.
Application: Use a good thick coat, this is no time to be skimpy 😊.
What is going to happen: As the product goes to work, you may feel a tightness on your nail bed. Depending on the age and layers of your manicure, the look of the product at work will differ. If your manicure is older, you may not get the “popping” off your nail. Your polish will become very soft so you can push it off with your cuticle pusher. If you have thick nail art or many layers, you may need to apply a second coat for complete removal.
As always, let the product do the work, not the cuticle pusher or you could damage your nail.
After removal: You may notice an oily residue due to the nature of the ingredients in the Flake Off product. If you are doing a manicure immediately after removal, make sure you do the prep steps and completely remove all of the residue with a cleansing wipe.
Flake Off FAQ
What if it is really clumpy and cloudy? Let the product come to room temperature. It will return to proper texture, when its cold, it thickens.
What if all my polish didn’t come off? Re-Apply more Flake Off and let it sit for a minimum of 3 minutes. This happens if you have multiple layers of polish or didn’t get enough product on that part of your nail.
It seems slippery. Make sure you have waited long enough for polish to start to bubble and lift. You will be able to use cuticle pusher to lift the polish despite the slipperiness of the gel. Don’t press down harder with the cuticle pusher.
How many manicures will it remove? 10
How much does it cost? $13.00
Why are there cautions about touching skin and allergic reactions when it is non-toxic? Many people, myself including, have tiny cuts and tears around our cuticles. Even though there is no acetone, it will still sting on that open skin. There are some individuals who are very sensitive to everything. In abundance of caution, we are warned that a reaction can occur.
Is is safe to use on children? Yes! and it makes removal so easy! Just make sure they don’t put their hands in their mouth!
